About Me

I'm a sales manager, HSE and Quality Assurance co-ordinator for an engineering company.
I've been a publican, cook, registered nurse and teacher .. I'm feeling old ..

Our house is fully automated, or rather, in between beta's, hotfixes and failed releases, our house is fully automated. Thankfully I have a very understanding wife, she has more patience than I do, I'm currently open to any suggestions for a fully blown HC2 replacement. I've almost settled on a few different ones, but each one has it's failings, and a new learning curve isn't something I envy, and so I suck it up and stay with Fibaro .. and wait for someone to come along with a suitable alternative .. who knows by then the Fibaro updates might not break everything or cause more problems :-) That was all a bit bitchy after a couple of nightmare releases that caused me no end of grief .. except .. it did, end I mean, so  ...  they caused me a momentary bit of grief .. Big picture, life is too short, and Fibaro are getting better all the time, credit where credit is due !!

Other than that, I love my home automation when it works, and we have door locks, watering system, garage and gate control, window and door control, lighting and entertainment control, currently and if I can get a stable release i'll add telescope observatory control to it... ( close up when cloudy or rain etc ) I currently de humidify with an aeon and dehumidifier on switch out there which works when the box does, but there's a lot of $ relying on the HA working, so i still manually check it ( which is * ! ) OK so this has also updated, I now have my observatory partially HC2 Controlled. It opens pre my venturing outside to begin cool down and stabilisation, the dehumidifier is controlled all by Fibaro switches and Aeon humidty sensor as part of their 5 in 1 thingy when it is closed up, and it will auto close up if I'm inside and the weather begins to turn ( thanks to Netatmo pressure readings, temp, wind and rain sensors.

When I'm not being challenged by the HA system, you can often find me at our farm, out fishing or camping, taking photo's or in my little observatory stuck to the end of my 14" meade telescope .. and generally drinking silly expensive scotch or magnificent South Australian wine ..

July 2020 UPDATE : Australia, being a country of less than a large suburb in Europe is finally getting the HC3 readily available in the next week or so  .. can't wait to get my hands on one and begin all over again .. oh wait .. what ?! Gah !

thanks for stopping by!
