I have to be honest with you. For a $700 piece of equipment, it can't seem to handle even the simplest stuff.
I wanted to have a light turn on when the garage door opens, but only if it is dark outside.
Turns out there isn't a "is Dark" so I learned I had to make a global variable and set it. OK, seems cheesy, but I did it. Or so I thought.
I made a global variable "IsDark"
I made 2 scripts.
One to set it to 1(True) 15 minute before sunset.
Another to set it to 0(False) at Sunrise.
These scripts no longer seem to run automatically, as it is 10AM and it is still set to 1, and at night (and I'm at a normal day/night latitude). If I run the scenes manually by clicking run, they function as expected, although seem to force the conditional as they will always set the value regardless of the time (I think this is a function of clicking scenes manually, as it seems to just ignore all conditionals). Which I'm OK with. But I can't seem to get these scenes to run automatically.
Then from time to time, I get application busy errors (screen shot provided).
However, I'm not sure what ID 18 is. I'm not sure what the application is.
Add onto this, I've also received the dreaded "Too many instances" issue too. I've scanned through the forum (because the documentation is useless for this error) and have increased my script to 4 instances. Still doesn't seem to help.
So I'd like to ask Fibaro... And I'd like you to provide me instructions as though I'm a total newb to all of this. And the furthest I'd like to go is Block programming. If you tell me I have to go into LUA land, then I think we can all agree that this system has failed.
Fibaro.. Please tell me. How do I take 1 Fibaro Door Sensor and 1 Light dimmer and have the light turn on when the door is opened and it is after sunset and before sunrise, and then have the light turn off 5 minutes later.
What is the "official" Fibaro way of doing this so that I don't get application busy errors, so that I don't run out of instances, etc.
If you need time to QA this in the lab, I'm happy to wait. I'm a technical guy, and I seem to be running into A LOT of issues getting even the basic things to work with the Fibaro. I can't imagine doing really complex scenes with it, much less home security until these basic issues are sorted out.
I am on the version 4.070 of the Fibaro system on an HC2.
Thank you.
