Dimmer 2 as remote switch only

gunder

Question

Hi

I have a Dimmer 2 permanently connected to power on L and N connection. I want to use it as a remote only, without a load connected to the unit. Connection to other lights controlled by Dimmer 2 to be done by direct association. I have associated the S2 switch on other dimmers to other lights, but on this i cannot get it to work.

It seems to be alive. Each time a press S1 or S2, it send Parameter 13 (auto-configuration) and return value = 0. Can the problem be that i haven't connected a load to the dimmer? Or something else?

As far as I know the dimmer only can be used with a load, a bypass 2 will be enough.

That's the correct knowledge : )

Dimmer 2 must be connected with a load. Switch can be without.

  • Ok, thanks for the enlightenment. Then i may try to fit a Bypass2.

Can the switch module be used to control a Dimmer 2, the same way as associating another dimmer to the S2 on a Dimmer 2 module?

    Hi @gunder,

Yes, switch csn control Dimmer 2 through association in same way as Dimmer 2 can.

If you want to use dimming function then on Switch set association group no. 4 (on/off) and no. 5 (dimmer).

    Best regards,

    Jakub
