Remote Acces problem? Check Your DNS!

K.Bergmann

Question

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Because of that, from time to time we get questions about remote access, I would like to outline some issues and ideas.

In the case of network configuration control panel, please pay attention to the DNS servers. Sometimes the customers enter the wrong DNS server address and because of that, remote access (via dom.fibaro.com / home.fibaro.com) will not work. (displays a white page after logging into the remote access panel). Personally, I recommend always set the address for DNS GOOGLE: 8.8.8.8 - with this address there should not be any problems with remote access. I would add that all the unit with software version from 1.027 automatically set secondary DNS google. Therefore, a potential problem relates only to HC2 with older versions of software. Please remember, if possible, to HC2 has always the latest version of software!

How to set the new DNS address?

To set a new address, go to Configuration tab and LAN Settings:

Please login or register to see this attachment.

If we have data assigned from a DHCP server, change the type of network connection to a static IP address (DHCP data will be stored).

In the next step, we change the DNS address to: 8.8.8.8

Click Save!

If you have a problem with remote access, when you will change DNS, please restart Your HC2.

Sadly the screen stays white even after this change.

I have forwarded 80 and 22 to my hc2 and the direct connections do work (public-ip:80 in browser and public-ip:22 in putty for example) ...

where to look further?

i'd really like to have the beta versions...

  • Dear Members,

For last few days we increased significantly capacity of our remote access server. If you still dealing with some Remote Access issues please reboot your Home Center 2. It will also reboot remote access software and after that it should works reliably.

Hello, If you installed BETA update 3.xxx then the remote access isn't working.. If you want to use everything as stable as possible, you should go back to 1.044 version..

  • Fabcatan,

Doesn't it supposed to work for version 1.044 ?

Home.fibaro.com works fine in 1.xxx version. It is just not available in beta yet.

It worked only once for me in 1.044 version

Since then I systematically have an error message as mentionned earlier

HC2 with fixed IP and DNS 8.8.8.8

Any suggestion to fix this would be welcome

    Thanks for your support

I use port forwarding on my router (NAT). It works perfectly without using the "official remote access".

I routed the external port 88 to internal port 80 on the IP address of my box.

On the iPhone or on a browser I use the connection like this:

I continue to have problems on two HC2, with both the 1040 version that with the previous version .... but sometimes it works, I think it's a problem with the server FIBARO and not with the configuration of HC2

    Hello

Is there someone withinFibaro to check the acces logs and do some troubleshooting ?

Please login or register to see this image.

    /emoticons/default_icon_curve.gif" alt=":-/" />

More and more I have the feelin that I've bought an expensive empty zwave box in a shiny envelop

Except the compatibility with Fibaro sensors nothing is easy to get working

Many teasers (ipad app, multisensor, power plugs, new features) and then ...... Nothing

    Hi,

DonO, please check the changelog - Remote access is not available in beta!

Partially agreed on that Krystian. I "sometimes" have it working on my iPhone through using 3G (no vpn or ipsec tunnels). odd, but pleasantly surprised.

The webinterface for me is a 100% not-functional through the internet on beta. (as expected).
