Somfy and HC2

TANE

Question

All my roller blinds are controlled via Fibaro modules.

In few weeks all the blinds will be replaced

The new blinds are Somfy controlled and I can't replace the control of the devices

Somfy means less control from HC2.

Possible options

- Zwave to somfiy interface. (was promised few years ago the US version is available )

- Keyfob modification and control all the blinds with FGS221

- Somfy IP and control blinds via Virtual devices

Any tips?

I assume someone is replacing all the motors and you have no say in the types?

You can control Somfy motors through FIBARO as long as they are NOT the "RTS" type

  • The Window frames will be replaced.

Frame has included Somfy RTS system that can't be replaced

I got Somfy awnings in my home that i also want to control from HC2.

Have seen the zwave to Somfy interface but it's sad that it it only is a US version available.

Anyone got a way out to solve the control, i'll be very happy.

I did some research with my Somfy contact. There is a Somfy Dry contact transmitter art. nr 1810334

It seems to be possible to connect a Fibaro Universal sensor to this to make some control of RTS motors.

Take a look and reply what you think about the possility

I have not done anything more to it, right now I got Somfy wind/sunsensor connected so they run by themselves.

I'm prioritizing other z-wave control right now

I've setup a somfy solution that works very well.

    1. Raspberry Pi

    2. RS485 GPIO unit.

    3. Somfy Urtsi

The Urtsi will also work with RS232 but this limits the setup to 16 channels. RS485 allows 16x16 channels.

Using a simple php frontend on the pi accepting http requests this works very well with HC2. If anyone it interested in the details of my setup I'd be happy to share and maybe to snap some pictures.

It's a recuring point about Somfy RTS, shame that nobody raised a "almost out of the box" kit that can manage this.

Some sompetitors are taking advantage of proprietary solution support vs. pure ZWave players, and I guess having a simple solution broadcasted would help many of us.

The "hard" part is getting the GPIO working as we want it to. There's a couple of ways to do this. The easiest probable being using the RS232 protocol. I wanted to try the RS485 protocol and went for the GPIO plugin module as seen above. The www-data user needs to be able to access the GPIO and then the interface can be done any way you like. I spent 5 minutes setting this simple php interface up for testing purposes but it works like a charm so far.

Some quick pictures of the setup which can of course be used for other stuff as well. I'll set this up as a SMS interface once I get a hold of the correct usb modem:

Here's a few links that might be useful when trying to setup the serial communication on the pi:

A cheaper way would be to use the GPIO and a hacked somfy rts remote. I've used that solution before and it works fine as well but obviously limits the number of channels.
