not sure, but have you tried to put the payload between quotes?

Perhaps verify this by printing the contents of the variable by doing a fibaro:debug(payload) to see the output of this variable. Not sure if it works, but give it a go.

I'm making the assumption that the lua code is not handling the payload variable properly.

I do my own script in php, so now is working with HC2.
