UE is still based on old squeezebox so should be an easy job. You can ssh onto the box

    Enable the "Developer" menu

    Go to the "Settings" menu

Press both the "Home" and the ">>" (forward) button simultaneously.

Now there should be an additional "Developer" menu at the bottom of the "Settings" menu.

In the Developer menu, go to "Remote Access" , then check/select the "activate SSH" menu item. I think root and 1234 gets you on.

    Some progress?

    I log in via SSH:

    User:root

    Password:1234

My idea is simply to turn the radio on and off with the Ipad app.

I would be surprised if squeezebox did not work. I have a few and they all work well. Also have tested my RPI as a squeezebox and that also works.

Pity the squeezeboxes are so expensive now. They are selling for twice the old list price if you can find them. I could make a nice profit if I was willing to let them go.

and Logitech thought they were not worth making anymore ?????

think RPI is the only way to extend now.

Not sure that it is the only way but my understanding is that Logitech have not allowed add ins on UE yet.

If you downgrade you get lots of advantages but loose some features of UE that are more advanced.

Suggest you read all the threads on it before you decide.
