specialise automated door OPEN/CLOSE commands

chris6783

Question

Hi

I'm moving from VeraLite to HC2

With my previous system and thanks to the 'garageDoor' plugin I could associate a sensor module (telling if the door is currently opened or closed) to a command module (connected to the door push button).

The door control then appears as unique device with two buttons 'open' and 'close' according to the current state of the door the icon shows a closed or open lock and one of button gets disabled.

From a functional perspective this prevents from sending a command to the door to close it if it's already closed (and reverse).

I may be too newby to the HC2 but I found nothing similar on it.

thanks for any suggestion,

Christophe

Try using a virtual device for that:

I'm not sure you'll be able to disable/grey a button, but at least you'll be able to change the status icon depending on the door real status. If it happens to work well, you could even have a unique virtual button that just changes position, once for open, once for close.

If you want to keep two buttons, you can also do some checkings in the code so you don't execute a request if the door is already in this state.
