Home-Connect - The new household appliances standard

TRicky

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I visited a trade show and learned about Home Connect.

This seems to become the new standard for communication with house appliances.

At this moment Bosch and Siemens work with it but other brands are welcome to join.

Have a look on:

This looks like a great opportunity for Fibaro!

The communication goes through WiFi.

Miele also has a similar application but they use Zigbee.

If Home Connect could be integrated in Fibaro the possibilities of controlling your home would be increased a lot!

What do you think?

Suspect HomeConnect works through WiFi is to allow ease of integration to HomeKit which happens to work based on WiFi/Network, not proprietary RF.

It will be great if Fibaro starts looking beyond just Z-Wave. But I doubt Fibaro is proactive and will be a long long long wait if the interoperability even comes.

  • Indeed, it works through WiFi. Every appliance has a build in WiFi module and you only need a WiFi-Lan.

But in the future almost every appliance will have a build in WiFi module (Internet Of Things)

Just because the majority of  HCs are likely to be connected to a Wifi-Router this is surly not impossible.

I read somewhere that the Philips Hue-Bridge will get an update to Zigbee 3.0 and will be opened to 3rd party developers and devices this year.

Imagine the Hue-Bridge as full functional Zigbee extension for the HCs.
For me this would be a killerfeature.

There are already applets on IFTTT, (

) which works with Homey so it shouldn't be impossible to implement on Fibaro. More to add Homeconnect has it's own developer page

ESP8266 has a WIFI Chip inside. Program it and you can use it with Fibaro on HTTP level, done

This is very old topic unearthed by @samuel. But now when is again activated I can only say that this is still after two years in baby stage. I have Candy washing machine with Simply-Fi and I can only say that it is complete fail! Machine is placed only 5 meters from my router and all my attempts to connect it to my network failed. So I'm still using old but reliable way to control and read status of home appliances with Fibaro smart plug which is 100% compatible with my HC2 ;)

I have a miele@home explanation & VD awaiting for approval, works pretty well for me. See my signature to check if its approved or not. It uses zigbee, but you can get a gateway device which spits out XML.

Getting a home connect Ofen from Siemens works pretty well

also the Amazon Alexa skill is not bad

thinking it's not a big deal to integrate in hc

    hello,

As I got fridge and washing machine that support Home Connect, I wonder is someone has a way to connect it with HC2.

I just like to ask how many people have any Home-Connect appliances.  Please provide the number and the type. I'm curious to see if "smart" appliances are on main stream.....you may reward for your answer ;)

The reason of disappointment? quality or connectivity?

    --EDIT--

    Better coding, than talking....

Server Side Events give me a BIG HARD Time! Any who knows anything about it, please drop a line :)

an early sneak view of Bosch/Siemens Home Connect bridge for Fibaro.... Basic Bridge Scene function is ready. That is just the top of iceberg!

So owners of Home Connect, you have fibaro compatible devices :)

I like to share this work, hoping someone to get involved and complete the interaction with Bosch/Siemens Home Connect ecosystem. Till now code can read all the appliances that are under your account. It is required to build VD and inject all these data! (Work in progress)

    Cheers!

    B.S.H.C. Ecosystem Scene
    ============================

    Steps to use this:

**  Create a developer account on:

Please login or register to see this link.

by using the email that your ***real*** appliances are registered to Home Connect app.
**  Create a new Application using OAuth Flow: Device Flow

Please login or register to see this link.

** Input the email you registered your appliances
on Home Connect User Account for Testing
** Change/keep the TableNameVar as scene will create with this name,
a new variable table and save all data of BSHC Ecosystem
** Run this Scene on Advanced Tab
** Press the link to Authenticate HC2 on Home Connect account

This looks awesome, I'll look forward to test this. I have a coffee machine and a kitchen hood.

What can you exactly do with this VD? :D

@pnutp0wer still there is no VD. on the previous post, there is only the scene that perform authorization, grab some basic data from devices (device name, type, etc). it is a huge load for all appliances that support home connect. So the posted scene is like a mainframe for build your own any VD that you like and hopefully contribute to community.
