400V Radiator Switch

pelle

Question

Hi!

I was planning to control my radiators using Fibaro FGS-212 relay switches.

But it turns out my radiators are using 400V, that is they are connected to two phases, not one phase (at 230V) and one neutral. This setup seem to be quite common, at least here in Sweden.

Is it possible to use the FGS-212 for this? If not, are there plans for such a z-wave switch.

Thanks!

/Pelle

It could be done but not just with those. Heavy duty switching like that needs specialist contactors rated for the load.

I using 3kw Fibaro switch to operate sprinkler system ( 400V/3 phases ) and put an 3 phase relay in between, which is then operated by the Fibaro 3kw 230V...

Sounds interesting.

What is the max load of the relays? Big enough for heating that may even have motors involved for fans? May do the job. Any links?

OK, I've seen similar solutions in other forums. Its going to be a tight fit in my case.

    Just to be clear:

Lets say I still operate the actual switch with 230V (Neutral at N & One phase at L), would it then be OK to control one single circuit between two phases (IN and Q)? My heating panels are between 400W and 1200W. The FGS212 is rated at 2500W? Would the relay in this switch be able to handle the voltage?

  • As an option, would this switch do the job?

Aeon Labs say it will be coming soon:

But it is available on several places. E.g.:

And manual kind of indicates that it can handle two phases, and optionally a neutral and a ground wire.

    Anybody have experience with these?

Actually I dont remeber the max load of the 3 phase relay, Im having the spinkler system connected to it ( 400V, 3 Phases, 2,2KW ), but seeing the relay, surely it would handle much higher load...  sorry dont have a photo - bought it quite some years ago ( always to operate the sprinkler system ), just recently added the Fibaro swhitch ( actually I use 2x1,5 KW ) to operate the relay and integrate it thanks to that in to HC2... By this solution the only limitation of the "end" load ( in my case the spinkler system ) is the 3 phase relay in between...

In case anyone else wonder. I've been in contact with Aeon Labs. Their Heavy Duty Smart Switch is only rated for 240V. As far as I can tell there is not z-wave switch on the market today which can do this.

So my conclusion is that the solution with a contactor which is managed with an ordinary relay is the way to go. Will give it a try, but I'm not really sure how to fit everything behind the heating panels.
