[SOLVED]FGMS001 Motion Sensor only active at night

marigo

Question

Hi all,

I have a FGMS001 sensor that I want only to be active at night. (eg 0:00 - 6:00)

There is a parameter (8) in the options that says: PIR sensor operation mode

I have set this to be active at night only. But I see that the sensor is still active in de morning around 08:00. After 08:00 it will be inactive but it is again active at around 19:00.

Does anyone know exactly at what time the sensor will be active in "night only" mode?

I use the sensor with Domoticz on a raspberry

If you want it based on time you need to create a scene to handle that as it's not based on time but on LUX levels. This means that depending on the time of the year the active time will change. You can set the LUX level by parameter.

It's described in the manual:

  • Hi UrSv,

Thank you for your quick reply.

So if I interpreter the manual I have to set the value of parameter nine to "100" then the sensor will detect "night" when it's below "100" LUX?

    Am I right?

Yes, that's the way it works.

  • Okay thanks for the push in the right direction.

I think i've missed it when reading the manual.

I have set it to 50 LUX and the motion is activated again when it's below 50.

    Great.

However,if you want exact times you can create a scene that sets a variable for when the sensor should be active and then use that as a condition for the desired actions.

  • Check!

I've made a scene when motion is detected between 0:05 and 05:30 then it should turn on some lights and send a e-mail. This works.

The thing that I also wanted is to shut down the PIR when it is not is use to extend battery life of the sensor.

Thank you for thinking with me.
