Fibraro Roller Shutter 2

fkismet

Question

Hi

I was wondering if someone can help me. I have garage door which is actually a roller shutter and the remotes are not working properly. I would like to wire up roller shutter module to it so I can control with phone. I have attached image of controller board and was wondering if any can help me on how I would wire up.

You wouldn't use a roller shutter module for this. I think it would be a relay that would be needed but I could be wrong. I am sure there was a thread asking a similar question on here about 6 months ago so you might possibly find an answer in that one

I have been advised that the roller shutter should work on all electric motors including garage doors, so technically you could use it for a gate and be able to control % open/close plus get status of whether it is opened/closed.

You would not be able to do this with a relay unless you wrote a scene to track the position of the relay and then it would not always be correct ie if it was closed and then someone opened it for a second is it now still considered closed or partially opened. I suppose with some smart code you could estimate the position. Either way it would be a lot of work.

My word of warning. I could not and still cannot get the roller shutter to fully work on two different types of electric motors (Eltral and the one used in a Sunsquare skylight) so it's not a guarantee you can get it to work.

Yes, the roller shutter should work on many types of MOTORS, a garage door controller contains quite a few more parts, safety, speed regulators, power controller. To replace that with a roller shutter however most often require extra power and often plenty of custom electronics. That is why we are not suggesting to replace the drive controller of the garage door. Its far safer, easier, cheeper, faster - have a pick. To replace or simulate the pushbutton with a potential free relay and keep the original drive circuts is the best solution if you are not an engineer with to much spare time.

  • Problem is I have already bought the module. Can I not have them wired so I take feed from Live & neutral and connect and up and down to O1 and O2?
