Dimmer 1 not responding when S2 is associated

Igy

Question

I have 2 dimmers (FGD211 v2.2). 1st is in charge of control of light in living room and second on the staircase. Both are working as expected when no association is made. As soon as I make association on 1st dimmer in group 2, to be able to control 2nd dimmer on staircase with switch close to the living room (2 momentary switches attached to 1st dimmer), its very common that after a while 1st dimmer can't be controlled with switch - its not responding. However control from the HC is possible without any issue. As soon as I use switch connected to S2 on 1st dimmer, switch on S1 starts to respond. Also when I press and hold switch on S1, after  2 seconds dimmer starts to dim the light and everything works as it supposed to until I wait for a minute and problem is there again. Anybody with similar experience and hint what to focus on?

This is also known as the 'triple click' problem, because association sometime has the effect of the light switching on after three clicks instead of one. The only workaround that I know of is to use "sceneActivation" instead of association.

  • But how to control other dimmer over the scene if you want to adjust the dim level of associated device with the switch?

As far as I know, you cannot have smooth dimming with "sceneActivation". But you can try this workaround, I use it on a minimote:
