Guest Kuuno

it is actually pretty easy, take these steps

1. take a piece of paper - A4 would be good

2. take a stopwatch and color markers

3. start turning on lights or devices and work yourself outwards from home center

4. measure the time it takes to turn on the light after switching it on

4.1 if your stopwatch measures seconds then take a wild guess for milliseconds

5.if it takes less than 3s then it is direct, if more than that then it might be routing - take a guess which module does the routing and write it down

5.1 if it takes more than 9 seconds then ask your electricity provider to provide you with higher amperage solution as current is too slow

6.continue making the drawing until all the modules are mapped

7.post the picture here so others could see

8. also add node id's on the drawing

9. make direct connected modules green and routed modules yellow

10. take a cup of cold water while doing it and enjoy weekend

Come on, let's get serious.  You proposed solution is not a serious or reliable method.

The routing information of every node is known inside the firmware of z-wave controller. It is a matter of someone in Fibaro, serious understand that without the routing information, the installers can not guarantee a reliable operation of the Fibaro system due to RF problems (RF range, obstacles like walls and people). Therefore they must develop a software utility as part of the z-wave diagnostics to enable the installers to perform a more knowledgeable RF survey of the site and take appropriate actions like to add additional controllers or actuators to enhance the RF coverage of the site.

Unreliable operation of the system will push users away from the system to other competitive solutions.

I fully agree with this article, also if Fibaro wan'ts to be in the market for the next few years they have to think for better stable system with good support. Also the system can be perfect if there is solution why some time the relay just stop responding and it need to be reconfigure. So many issues beside the range faulty.
