Dimmer 2 European Standard - use with 127V/60Hz

Rauti

Question

Dear all,

I would like to know if the European version of Dimmer 2 works as well with a power supply of 127V and 60 Hz.

Information on product data sheets is unfortunately not 100% clear to me. Sometimes it is stated only 230V, sometimes it gives arrange for 110 to 230 V. Same with the frequency of 50Hz vs 60 Hz.

Thank you very much!

  • Because I am living in Brazil (127V 60Hz one phase or ~220V 2 phase) and I am currently constructing a house where I foresee round about 70 automation points.

Here in Brazil unfortunately we have a very limited number of suppliers and prices are sky high. E.g. price for a Dimmer 2 module is around EUR 160...

Some of the devices I plan to use are even not available (e.g. IR).

As I am originally from Europe and travel there often I was considering to use European frequency equipment.

The place where I am constructing is far from other radio frequency sources...

My biggest doubt is with regard to the frequency. Many dimmers use the zero points of the sinus curve to adjust to the grid but due to limitation of the used hardware the frequency is hard coded. So 50Hz equipment would not work properly with 60Hz grid.

Dimmer 2 can be sold in Brazil, but you need version AU (Australian) who are working on frequency 919.8MHz  921.4MHz.  Using EU version in Basil by law is illegal (Eu version use other frequency what is not allowed in Brazil and use other radio power)
