Migration from HCL to HC2 possible?

MU-Germany

Question

Hello out there

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />

I have got a HCL with a lot of devices (about 60) and now I want to turn the System to HC2.

Is it possible to easy migrate all devices to the new System?

Without a complete re-inclusion?

I do not want to pull every socket and every power-/ blind-switch out of the walls to exclude und new include them.

The scenes are not that important, I could write them complete new on the new HC. Important for me is not to open all sockets and switches and also to do the tricky inclusion of the window-sensors.

Hope there is a way for it...

Thanks to everybody who could help or give me a hit!

@francisco: did your migration work? How did you do this?

Has someone a  successful experience the way @tinman suggested?

Did it....all manually.....it took me about 25 hours.

Important: exclude them correctly on the HCL before trying to include. Some relais had a strange behavior during reset. Door and Windowsensors are a big *abuse* if you do not exclude them correctly.

I am on the HC2 now....works better for me with so many modules and scenes

I was also thinking about migrating from HCL (which is very unstable, despite nighty reboot) to HC2. But as I would have to redo every configuration, scene and setting, I am thinking about moving to some other zWave station.

Would you recommend moving away from Fibaro to something more reliable? Vera Plus? Samsung?

  • Thank you for your helpful post, francisco!

I have got >60 actors and the HCL freezes every day, has lags,...

So maybe I have to move to HC2, too - and invest plety of hours to exclude / include.

  • HC2 is ordered...

Has DELETING of Z-Wave devices from HCL the same effect as EXCLUDING?

So would this be the way (deleting) before including them on a new HC2?

No. HC2 is worth the effort if you know what you are doing since with others system there is same requirement, knowing and understanding the system to get it setup properly and working properly.

    No!

Delete means deleting the module only on the HCL.

Exclude does the same plus "reset" pairing infos on the module so you can easily add the module...do a clean exclude I recomend

Well, problem with HCL is that it freezes randomly, despite automatic nighly restarts. As HC2 has the same firmware, just better hardware, I am not so sure freezes will be gone for 100%. Will they?

Hi Guys. Any new about this topic? I found a guide but not sure if it works...

Working Home Center Lite to working Home Center 2

    1. Both Home Centers has to be added to the same FIBARO ID.
    2. Create cloud backup with the configuration you want to transfer.
    3. Go through the recovery procedure on Home Center Lite.
    4. Activate Remote Support by going to the Configuration tab -> LAN Settings -> Remote support: “Turn on for 7 days” button.
    5. Contact Technical Support to verify and set donor status on the Home Center Lite.
    6. Log in to FIBARO ID account.
    7. Open Home Center list.
    8. Choose “Transfer Configuration“.
    9. Choose donor Home Center and target Home Center.
    10. Start procedure of configuration transfer.
    11. Restore backup in target Home Center.

    Hi there!

Is there any new information about this topic? I'm planning to switch my HCL to a new HC2, but if no migration tool, I won't buy a new one.

    Thanks

Did you test it? Works fine?

No have never had a need for it.

Support can help you if you are unsure.

I am guessing most user would like to get rid of the HCL and use only the HC2 instead of maintaining a more complex scenario with two "boxes"...

Thank you for your answer. Is it will solve to work the new device with the current actors, without exclude from the old device and add to the new device?

I'm wondering why most of you want to migrate your devices from HCL to HC2?

I recently switched from HCL to HC2 as well. But my plan is to only migrate all intelligence (scene's, VD's, ...) and keep all z-wave devices connected to HCL.
By time, you can connect new devices, or some to HC2, but as long as the HCL is working, I don't see any advantage in migrating those to HC2. Am I wrong?
