Nest + Fibaro + Z-Wave Radiator Valves

Hi all,

Has anyone done this?

Fibaro HC2 + Nest + Z-Wave Danfoss Radiator Valves?

Is the Fibaro able to control the temperatures in different rooms via the valves as well as then have the Nest functionality? In my flat I have 10 radiators flowing hot water for 10h a day. Heating is centralized the only thing I can do is open/close valves. 

Or would I be better adding a z-wave thermostat and z-wave valves in each room?

 

Does nest being able to control each room then ?

Hi,

 

Nest + Fibaro HC2 works well (if you don't mind some LUA tot get it working better).

I don't have any Danfoss Radiator Valves though.

 

Your Nest will control the central heating system (either on/off or modulating) and the Danfoss Valves will control each room.

I Guess once the Danfoss Valves have reached the target temperature they close the valve and send a signal to the HC2, which can then turn off the Nest Thermostat controlling the central heating (if all valves have reached the target). But, I'm not sure what those valves return to HC2, I've read they don't return the temperature of the room (where the Devolo's do).

 

Anyway, lot's of people here with those valves and lots of threads about them. So I can only tell you Nest + Fibaro HC2 works with some tweaking. Hopefully someone will help with the valves ... .

Do you know more about the LUA script to add, which benefit does it brings?

 

In my specific case the central heating system is not controlled by me. It's building centralized. I can only open/close valves when heating is on. I would rather use the NEST "only" to set the temperature and open/close valves. If possible I would also set the building heating schedule, so the NEST/Fibaro knows if the centralized heating is on or off.

 

Furthermore could be interesting to add a rule: if centralized heating is off and the temperature is too low, then turn on my flat daikin heating system.

It's not the easiest way.

 

You could use the Nest to control the valves by using some LUA (you would really have to make your own custom scripts), but I think that if the Nest is not going to control the central heating system, I would only buy the valves. Otherwise the Nest would just be an expensive display.
