Recommendations for retractive UK switch for Dimmer 2

mark.carline

Question

I'm in the UK and I have a two wire setup so found that the only dimmer modules that seem to work in my setup are the fibaro units.  My house has a mixture of backboxes (so 16mm,25mm,35mm and 47mm) and i've managed for some of the deeper ones (35mm and 47mm) to use a 10mm spacer (see link below) to get the dimmer 2 working.  So far I have used this setup:

1 x Schneider Electric Ultimate 2-Gang Part M Grid Plate White (8626J)

Please login or register to see this link.

2 x Schneider Electric 10AX 2-Way Retractive Switch Module White (6833J)

Please login or register to see this link.

plus this 10mm spacer (where I have thinner backboxes):

I wonder if anyone in this group can share what switches they have used?

Thanks!

Mark

I don't understand what is 2-way retractive switch? Is it toggle switch with 2 positions or momentary switch?

  • Yep just a press-to-make type switch, the type that works with the dimmer 2.... I'm open to ideas suggestions as to what people are using in the UK with limited switch back box sizes avsilable.  Cheers!

    Hi,

I'm ireland and use the click deco minigrid modules. (2-way retractive)

I had the back boxes cut to 50mm when the house was built but there seems to be loads of room

the bottom three switches are 2 way retractive and the wall is block

I've had good results from the Varilight grid series:

They look pretty good, and the range is readily available at screwfix (next day click and collect generally)

I've got, in general 35mm back boxes. The switches are about 25mm deep. You can just about fit a dimmer2 into the (preferably plastic) backbox as well if it is 50mm deep alothiugh things get a bit tight - would only do one per double backbox.
