LED light switching.

moosairshad

Question

Hi

I am working on Double Relay switch2. I want to switch ON and OFF my LED lights using this switch.

Some of my friend who works on Fibaro told me that only 0.5A or 1A LED devices can be controlled using the relay switch. For more than 1A load he told that we have to use the Contacter along with Relay.

Is it right. Or could I use the relay directly with LEDs and how much Power LED can be connected directly to it?

What sort of LED you are using (strip, bulb etc.) ?

If it is strip i will need to know what power supply its using, if its bulb you should have all info on its cahrakteristics written down.

What your friend refers to is that LED has massive initiall shock, so unless you have a way of dealing with it you need to have certain reserve to ensure your FGS dose not get overcurrented into oblivion.

From the rated current you can calculate the initiall "bump" i would personaly trust your friend(i am too laizy to look it up and count the damn thing myselve) or ask him to help you figure it out.
