Does SMS signaling became obsolete?

I think, Fibaro + SMS does not work in most countries. I know about Poland and India.

Now most users has smartphone with 3G/LTE, so PUSH is more reasonable. That is my opinion when i look on CZ users.

I don't think SMS should be obsolete.

For somebody who travels a lot for work, mobile data is not always an option.

Within the EU there is no problem as roaming charges have disappeared (mostly anyway).

However I often go to the Middle East, Asia and Africa where my mobile contract does not give me any data.

In this case I would be relying on Wifi which is - on the road - certainly not an option.

For this reason I would still need to have SMS capabilities. I find it a bit "Fibaro-y" to have the option there and in the menus but it doesn't work.

Why don't they just host their own metered SMS gateway?
