Controlling wi-fi devices

Hi All!

 

Is there somewhere description, or maybe some best practice example(s) about talking (i mean controlling) to wi-fi connected devices?

I've been studying examples of @Lambik, @Sankotronic, @jompa68 and others, but i can't get it going, nor i can get it in the fingers. Perhaps i shoul'd say instead of fingers my old head actually.

Any recomandations, directions, or exmaples to study will be appreciated.

Hi @AutoFrank,

 

I want to control actualy not only wi-fi devices but in general IP devices in my LAN, like Plex on Synology NAS, Anova Coocker, Logitech Squeezebox Touch, Athom Homey to speak and receive speech commands instead of Fibaro, etc, etc...

well then, for each of mentioned devices you have to find out some info of their API interface or what ever they use to communicate with mobile apps or similar. There is no unified solution if that is what you are asking for.

+1 - each device will vary in how it communicates. If you are lucky it will have a verbose API for you to call over HTTP, but worst case will require some more low level network communications. There wont be a 'one size fits all' solution, you will have to go device by device.
