Are you using Node-Red for inter-device communication?

For the most and at this moment, yes. I'm using the HC2 primarily as typical Z-Wave controller.

I have  IoT devices, which the HC2 can not communicate with, like an

    , several

, my smart TV, network devices (Ubiquity), Sonoff devices (with custom firmware) etc.

IMHO, this is a huge drawback of the HC2, so the community is forced to figure out something out. I use Node-Red for over a year now and more and more I'm dismantling the HC2-functions. At the moment I have a new RaspBerry Pi 3+ configured with Node-Red/MQTT encrypted communications capabilities, using Pi-Hole as way to block several out-side communications (to and from the internet).

Also I'm trying some new Home Automation platforms to replace, or operate alongside. I tried Domoticz and now I'm investigating Home Assistant (which is looking good to become my preferred platform). To  gradually 'dismantle' the HC2, I found Node-Red is a very, very handy tool. Also to implement the functionalities to a new platform, IMHO, Node-Red is a must have. Maybe you can say Node-Red is becoming more and more my  primary platform!

I'm also use this because I noticed I was becoming to dependent on the HC2 platform. The point-of-no-return and the Fibaro Close Source approach was getting me on my nerves, so I decided to build on more independent (preferred Open Source and Linux based) platforms. In time Node-Red  proofed to be the ultimate tool to achieve this, using MQTT as my main use protocol to communicate with all of the gateways and platforms, with backup and restore capabilities Fibaro can only dream of and do not have to wait for for years....

Thank you for explaining it. I'm new to Fibaro, my previous HA was with Domoticz and RFXCOM with only 7 actors and some neat Python scripting. Now I have Fibaro with 25+ actors. The Fibaro marketing video's are amazing, but I realized you have to program everything yourself. This is not a problem, because that's the fun I get out of HA, but programming LUA scenes is difficult due the lack of good debugging tools/info.

At the moment I have a simple setup,  I installed all actors and have two scenes that turn on evening lights and turn of all lights when we go to bed. I'm designing our automation needs on paper and at the moment I'm at a point to choose, build everything in LUA Scenes, and write some own code, or use Node Red and write less code. But I'm scared I make the wrong decision. There is a lot I don't know, the knowledge is high at this forum, so I'm reading and reading. And I see a red line between posts that the HC2 sometimes fails, and when my HA grow's bigger this is no fun. It incorporates in your life like a light switch.

When I read your topic I think Node Red is the way to go, I have Unifi, Bosch HomeConnect, Ring, Philips HUE, Xiaomi Robot Vac and want to glue it all together.

    Hello fibaro friends!

I've read this thread at least 3 times, but I do not get to the goal, or have problems understanding. I ask for support with the following problem:

I have run Home Assistant with Node-Red Extension and a HC2 with latest beta version.

Several members have reported that communication between Node-Red and HC2 is only possible in one direction (to Node-Red) (currently !?).

There is an extension for HASSIO-Node-Red named "node-red-contrib-fibaro-hc2" version 0.0.54.

There are 3 components with the names:
    - HC2 server
    - HC2 device
    - HC2 Dispatcher

What significance do these components have? I can use them and also get an output of the payloads in the debug window. But I can not do more.

Which requirements have to be made in the HC2 and which settings have to be made in the Node-Red?

I want to pass values from HC2 to Node-Red or query devices or query global variables.

Likewise I would like to return values to the HC2 or set global variables, in order to communicate over detours.

Yes, questions about questions. Thanks to those who help me with finding a solution - similar to HC2 - Node Red for Dummies! Thank you!

P.S: Possibly. does MQTT still play a role?!?!?

Hi All... I'm trying to use your solution to activates node red flows by a HC2 scene.

I have created the scene and vd as explained but when I try it I receive the below message in debug.

Could you help me to solve the problem?

    Thanks
