FGS212 two wire system with LED Bulbs

Hi Guys

I have an issue with the installation of and FGS212 my problem is i have only a two wire systems means the N is only at the bulb and on the switch, I have only the the L wich is interrupted by the mech switch.

I think i did it right i can switch on the light but in that moment the FSG212 did not get power and the relay fell down, i think this is because of the LED i think with a normal bulb it will work.

Will, in this case, the bypass will help?

Regards Chris

Hi @Chrisliom,

Did you tried connection below? If you have only L and N there then it should be ok.

I agree with @jakub.jezek but there's possibly some confusion.

If this really is a FGS-212 as you said in your topic title, then it's a relay and the answer is short: it can only work if you have L and N. There are no relays that can operate without N or L. The only option is a dimmer.

On the other hand, if it's a dimmer then it's a probably a FGD-212 and in that case the schematic from the previous post is OK.

But...there is also a minimum load requirement. I quote from the manual:

"The Dimmer during its operation requires the minimum load of 50 VA (or when using FGB-002 device 5VA, cosφ>0.5)"

In 2-wire setup, like you are using, it might work with about 1/2 of those stated figures.

Be careful: some LEDs have lower actual power than what they have printed on them.

The status window of your HC2 will display events like this "Caution! Mains voltage drop detected."

Some LEDs might stay on or glow if turned off and used without the bypass.

When you change lamps, force calibration by setting p13=1 (no bypass) or 2 (if you have a bypass)

  • Yes it i a switch I  tested also with a standard bulb, and it is the same and as you mentioned in the moment the lamp goes on, the switch lost the N and the relay fell back.

    Thanks for help

I'm glad you found the cause of the problem. And I hope you'll find a workaround...
