Yale z wave module Australia?

Tom Dixon

Recommended Posts

Could anyone please let me know if they have enrolled a Yale Deadlock Z Wave module into their Home Centre 2?

I purchased the Yale Lock with Z wave module and am having difficulty adding the module to my Home Centre through the learning mode.

I am unsure if the module I purchased on eBay from USA, is compatible here in Australia? If not, where can I purchase a module that is compatible in Australia and works with my Yale lock?

Thanks.

If you purchased the module from the US it is probably US frequency and AU frequncy

I am not sure if it is the same with the Yale and the Lockwood, but on the Lockwood lock if you have the lock symbol on the screen instead of the # symbol then this will not work properly with automation controllers. It will only show lock/unlock status but not allow remote lock/unlock

  • Ok thanks for your feedback. I'm not sure how to check if the module works with my home centre? Are there particular codes or serial numbers to look out for? I have attempted to add the module to my home centre a number of times through the 'add device' function but doesn't work.

I know my Yale deadbolt lock does support z wave.

The module that I have that goes into my lock has the frequency listed on it. Are you able to remove the module and check for that?

I am not 100% sure but considering it says US after the z wave part it might be a us module

  • Yeah good point! Where would I purchase a z wave module suited for our frequency here in Aus? Thanks.

  • Yeah I thought that, but then I thought surely a lock company could do a special order. If you can flick me a contact to order from that would be great? I'll keep searching in the mean time. Thanks

Don't forget that it is illegal to run US freq zwave devices in Australia (they use one of the Vodafone mobile network freqs).

  • I am unable to use it anyway. I am searching for an Australian frequency module. Thanks.

Would be great if you can post what you end up with. I've got the house pretty much where I want it, and also looking for a decent smartlock.
The August with zwave would be great (via their trade channel), but currently is US freq only.
Could bridge their standard lock with Wifi.. but obviously trying to avoid the lag that that would introduce (as opposed to native zwave).
    Cheers.

  • Thanks Matt.

I would buy the complete Lockwood lock with z wave module, however I have already purchased a Yale dead bolt lock on eBay, simply due to the fact it comes in a dark bronze colour, which suits this particular install. Obviously since doing this I have picked up a US zwave module. Do you know of anywhere that just sells the Australian z wave module so I can plug into my Yale lock?

    Thanks.

    • 9 months later...

You can buy the Lockwood/Yale Zwave module (AU/NZ frequency) separately in New Zealand.  Search the web/eBay.  There is definitely one online re-seller but sadly I can’t remember the URL.

Careful, as there are two separate US modules and lock systems but the AU/NZ version is only for the first US one (I think the same as the pic you posted). The more up-to-date locks from the US (the version without the keyhole) takes the second module type which is not available yet for AU/NZ.

Hi. How can i tell which of the two modules the lock takes? The nz / au selection of Yale locks is lacking compared to what is available in the usa. I'm thinking of buying a lock from usa and aging a nz module. I've been looking at yrc226 and yrc246 locks.

    Thanks.
