Dimmer 2 Association to itself

alex88

Question

It is possible to associate the S1 of a dimmer to the S2 of the same dimmer or can associations only be to other Dimmer S1 outputs?

I have tried to do this on Dimmer 1 modules, but it doesn't seem to work. Has anyone got it to work on Dimmer1 or Dimmer2?

  • I want to use a 2 gang switch as follows:

S1 (left gang) - physically connected to a light circuit e.g. ceiling spots and also associated to all other light circuits in the room - "Lights ALL"

S2 (right gang) - associated to S1 (left gang) - "Ceiling Spots"

I'll redesign the switch layout in another way. Thanks anyway.

Have you tried "Device grouping" on the General tab of the device properties?

  • You lost me there.

I am on v4.100. On the general tab of the device the only things I can change are the name of the device and the room it is located in.

It was probably introduced a bit later. I am 99% certain it exists on 4.110. It is quite useful if you have several dimmers, and you want to synchronise dimming levels. Or RGBW modules for that matter. I do not recommend an upgrade, if this is the only missing feature in your setup... I have only toyed with that feature, I do not need device grouping at the moment, so I cannot tell a lot more than what I already said.

  • Thanks for trying. I am still not sure that device grouping would resolve the issue I had, but I have already change the switch design, so I don't need it anymore.
