How can I control Sonos using the Fibaro KeyFob

Question

Posted

Hi There,

I am trying to figure out a way to use the new fibaro keyfob to control my sonos system. The type of functions I am thinking are on/off and volume up/down only.

From what I understand you cant use the keyfob to control plugins but you can control scenes.

To control Sonos via a scene I understand a Virtual Device would need to setup for SOnos which I have now done successfully.

My question now is how do I create a scene using LUA code to control the Sonos VD?

Is there a better way to do this? Im sure there should be an easier way???

Hi @yajean

There are three ways to use sonos with the HC2

  • Plugin
  • Remote VD
  • sonos-http-api

Could you which you have setup and what sonos control are looking for.

This may help identify a person that might be able to assist

assign a keyfob button to a button on your VD.

i have done that and i use my '+' button for volume up in increments of 2 and the '-' for volume down.

i have also assigned the '+' button pressed to start a playlist and the '-' to stop the playlist.

you use the sonos-http-api bridge which is run on the pi for your playlist starting and stopping but you have to remember it will always be the same playlist.

the volume functions are run using the sonos-http-api OR the VD.

thanks

    Thanks @AutoFrank and @morpheus75

@morpheus75, what you described is the exact setup I would like.

There are various VDs out there. Is there a particular one that you are using to do this?

Also, how do you assign a keyfob button to a VD button. Are you able to supply the code to do this?

    @yajean

these are the videos i have done and its a case of using a combination of these to get your desired outcome.

take a look, any questions just ask!!

how to install the sonos-http-api bridge

    how to install the VD

this is the playlist selector. you create your own VD for this one as it will be specific to you requirements but the principle

of path creation is the same

finally how to add things to the keyfob...

    enjoy.....
