restart after power failure

AutoFrank

Question

Hi @T.Konopka

You referenced the following in a closed post

Quote

Restart after power failure - connect the gateway to the monitor and keyboard. Go into BIOS with F2. Then: a. Power tab -> After Power Failure -> Power On -> Save and Exit -> Confirm

I was wondering if this is a fix for a hand after a power up or a different issue ?

Thanks

_af

Honestly I don't think that battery is the cause...

More like the system is corrupted...

I'd say, entering a bios setup does not corrupt an USB disk... So I agree with the other posters, something was/is corrupt on that drive but your system was still running parts from RAM. The reboot failed, because the reload from disk failed... Out of curiosity, can you boot to the recovery partition? I wouldn't start a recovery, I think this is a case for Fibaro... Is that a date on that lithium cell? If that cell was manufactured in 2016, it should not be drained already. Or is that a "best before" date? Could be...

I solved it, it was cmos battery 2,8 Volt and a new one 3,3 volt, replaced it and boots now after a power outage !!!!

    @amoebe

Do you have a spec of the battery and the link where you purchased it.

It is an easy replacement or a 'soldering' job ?

    Thanks

in principle any CR2032 with molex 51020-0200 should be ok

I have removed the connector and the battery, that was mounted on a chip with double sided tape, I opened the plastic case, removed the point soldered contacts from the battery, and mounted the contacts with isolation tape on the new battery, basically I made a new "plastic" case with isolation tape.

put the connector back on the board, used small piece of double sided tape to put the battery on the location where it was

Yes the battery is just an ordinary CR 2032, you can by it everywhere, but the suggestion from tinman is a better alternative, and what i saw on the picture, when I opened the link, the connector is the same as it is used on the mainboard

  • I replaced the cmos battery and this has resolved my issue

My HC2 can now restart itself after a power failure.

I also had the same  issue if I plugged the HC2 in and it started to power up automatically

    This has also been resolved

I can confirm that replacing the old CMOS battery that had a measured voltage of 2.8V has resolved the not starting up after power failure issue.

I have to tap the power button to get it to start correctly

Does this happen all the time? This is something that we did not hear about at all.

You can check the settings in BIOS, see it you have the Power On option enabled.
