FGK-10x: door sensor magnet on steel surface ->problematic?

Recommended Posts

I am having the magnet of one of the door sensors attached to a steel surface and I am facing the issue that the door remains 'open' even the door is closed. Not always but very often. Magnet is about 2 mm away from the sensor when door is closed

Is there any issue known if the magnet is attached to a steel (magnetic) surface?

If so, how did you overcome the issue?

Hi @kunoch, i believe that FGK-10x is some simple sensor magnet.

Maybe the sensor with hall effect (FGDW-002) or if FGK-10x is mounted on some non-magnetic material.

  • So, I will try to mount it somewhat (20 mm) isolated from the steel and see if it improves. There is enough space available and the good look of the installed sensor is not important at all

I’ve mounted the magnet on a piece of small hard plastic. The piece of plastic is then mounted with adhesive velcro on the surface.

  • I have the magnet now installed with 15 mm space to the steel surface and so far it works.
