Does debugging in Scenes make things slower?

Question

Hi All,

 

Hope someone can answer my question:

 

Does the use of debugging in scenes make things slower ? (to respond, the system, negative impact on resources, etc.....)

I like debugging in scenes cause it tels me what a scene is doing

of course it does, each time you write something into the scene-log window (and it does not matter if you use print or fibaro:debug), that message will get stored as well into database (which can be then read by /api/scene/sceneID/debugMessages back). Each every bit you write into db means i/o access, means cpu time, means flash read/write (log files written to file system), and all this costs time.

  • @tinman thanks, I did not know things were written to a database, thought it might just be in memoty.

    so best practice would be, only turn on debugging when needed I guess ?
