BUG: Impossible to change house location

Dmitry M.

Question

Hello,

I can't change the location of my house. The problem looks like a bug in the system.

At first, I couldn't find the possibility to change the location at all, as the Longitude and Latitude information appear like static labels on the Configuration->Location page. Then, after using Safari browser, I found a hidden button (please see screenshot #1). But, after clicking this button, I was redirected to the page with the broken map (please see screenshot #2). I stuck on this page as no matter what I do, the location doesn't change.

- If this is a bug, how to notify HC2 developers so they could probably release a fix in next firmware version?

- If it's not a bug, how to overcome this problem?

Thanks

Yes, I'm sure that Google is not banned, I can access Google Maps website with no problem.

I made a screenshot of the issue, please have a look at it (attached). Here is the link from the Error message:

  • Unfortunately, it didn't help. I was logged in with a Google account all that time. I also tried to log out - nothing changed

    Hello @Dmitry M.!

    Thank you for your screenshots!

Make sure that you're not using browser in some private mode.

    You should also:

    - update your web browsers (use the latest version)

    - clear cache and cookies and log in to Google and Fibaro again:

  • Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work. Here is what I did:

    1. I made a full clear of a cache in a Chrome browser

    2. I turned off AdBlock and checked all other programs/add-ons that may block connection

    3. I updated the browser to the final version: 63.0.3239.108

    4. Finally, to be sure that the problem is not with my internet provider, I used my phone as a modem with 3G connection

I still see the same issue

    just FYI:

    @I.Srodka

    Dima!

    here is you root issue!

you use public IP (from ISP DHCP pool) and you reach main Google rule: 25.000 calls per day on 90 consecutive days.

    no dice here.

Thank you @10der for your input, that can of course be the case!

However as @Dmitry M. said it is unusual to hit this limit with two different internet providers.

You can try some other cellular provider but I guess those national ones should have a free pass in Google's limits.

    melancholy news.

so, I  can only propose to you a workaround

    1) open

Please login or register to see this code.

    2) get a response

    3) copy - past response

    4) change values (in notepad for example)

"latitude": 22.7415277756882, "longitude": 77.8129217624664, "city": "Muhosransk",

    according your location

    4) past copy to http://<HC IP Addr>/docs/#!/settings/modLocation

    body

    5) press [Try It!] button

I think we are still missing some information:

    1) Which firmware version do you have on your Home Center?

    2) Did you try both local and remote connection? (I know that via Opera VPN it was a remote connection), but beside that?

Thanks for this workaround. Surprisingly, but it still doesn't change. Here is a screenshot of what I'm doing (attached). I noticed that, with this approach, I can change any other information. For example, I managed to change the Timezone and windUnit. But, the Longitude, Latitude, and City are unchangeable. I see response 200 and the HC2 reboots. But, I again see the old location, somewhere in Poland and the city remains empty.

    1) 4.150

    2) Not yet. I tried only remote access. I will try it the local access today evening and will let you know

If it helps, I can give I.Srodka access to my HC2, via private message. Should I?

  • Hi Guys,

Luckily, it worked fine when I accessed the system from the local network!

It still doesn't work when I access it from the outside. But, that's ok for me. However, let me know if I can help you somehow to determine the root of this problem.

Thank you all for your help!

    Cheers

    Hi @Dmitry M. ,

Just to be clear. Any configuration of your HC is possible only via a local network. So it's not a workaround, it's the only way to do this. :)
