My interests in home automation started approximately one year ago when I talked to one of my employees. He lives in USA and used z-wave to control his house from abroad. That triggered me and I was happy to discover that z-wave was invented by Danes! After browsing through the possibilities and talking to a Danish shop selling Fibaro devices (youcontrol.dk), I choose the Fibaro Homecenter2 as my home automation system. I have never regretted that decision and really like the possibilities for Lua programming and the sleek design of HC2 and the devices that Fibaro makes.

 

I have been a member of this Forum for a little more than half a year and enjoy the help and suggestions available on the forum. I try to help others if I can - especially in turning the home automation as invisible as possible in daily life. To my experience, the best way to sell the idea of an automated house to "non-believers" is to make the system as invisible and supportive as possible. What sold my ideas to my family were something as simple as PIR controlled light in the hallway and a door operated light in our washing room. Now automated music in certain rooms, controlled light in all rooms, cameras, and a text-to-speak weather forecast is accepted and used daily by the family. In other words: Start with some basic devices. Get them accepted by the family - and go from there
