Hey @Muhammad!

You can do the self-test:

Quote

Test FIBARO Smoke Sensor’s operation by performing a self-test – press & hold the B-button

How to service Fibaro smoke detectors? which may include cleaning the chambers or verify sensitivity of the IR.

I would try to check it via smoke tester. Something like this

Self test does not simulate smoke going through sensor in same way as aerosol does.

  • ok thanks for the details, but my question is related to servicing the sensor - being the installer if I need to service it e.g. if the self-test fails.

If you tested it just as @jakub.jezek mentioned, and you checked the siren with the self-test, there is not much you can do.

You can send it back to FIBARO for the warranty replacement / repair or you can send it to FIBARO anyway (after 2 years) but with paid repair this time.

  • I'm asking because if you go for professional ones e.g. Honeywell. they have a separate detector to verify sensitivity of the IR led.. (Attached) may be we can use the same for Fibaro??

Well, "only" servicing is compresor cleaning following by Spray test and Z-Wave test at the end.

    • Compresor cleaning: Blow bugs and dust from it.
    • Spray test: If it's not working, then replace.
    • Z-Wave test: If you do not see changed state of device, then replace.

spray test is generally not good for any optics, when there is already some dust particles, they will (combined with test spray) break the functionality, so don't use it.
