Multiple Temp Sensors

Al3x

Question

Has anyone connected multiple temp sensors to a single universal sensor? documentation says 2 inputs and 2 outputs but also supports up to 4 temp sensors

They are Digital Temparture sensors and just get wired in parallel with each other to the sensor wires  as shown in the manual .

The two inputs and outputs are separate wires and terminals for a different purpose monitoring other devices states.

You could solder them with heat shrink or use small terminal blocks

if you talking about Fibaro Binary sensor and Dallas ds18b20 - yes, I have connected 4 temp sensors.

what's the hitch? as for me, docs are very clear.

  • Do you have a picture of how you managed to connect up 4 temp sensors and have then presentable? Did you just solder then to temp sensors

Use the water proof ones, they are more rugged and have cables easier to connect to.

    pretty cheap on Ebay.

3 important notes when using a UBS + 4 temperature sensors like DS18B20

    1. Use HC2 FW above ver. 4.100 (not sure about exact version). Before, the FW had a bug showing only 3 out of 4 sensors.

    2. If you want to use 4 sensors at the end, attach them all at once. Later added sensors will not be detected.
(you will have to Delete, Add and re-configure the UBS).

    3) If a sensor creates a continuous flat line in Consumption > Temperatures it may be crashed. Power cycle the UBS.
If this doesn't help the sensor is dead (had this twice).

  • A bit of a late post but i seem to be winning with this.

Universal sensor powered by alarm PIR which then has 2 temp sensors connected to it. still going strong and fast!

    Glad you got it working.

    Oh, one more thing ...

There is no way to determine which temp sensor is 1st or 2nd other than warming one up and see which one changes value,

    then label the sensors appropriately.

test first one if OK add second. you soon work it out but yeah heating one up does the trick too. by putting it in pir I can measure multiple temps from one device in places I wouldn't normally.

Adding a 2nd sensor AFTER including the UBS + 1st sensor, does not work.
The 2nd sensor is NOT auto-detected but simply ignored. Not what one would expect.

You have to excluding and include the UBS again to get the 2nd sensor detected.

Faster is to attach all sensors you plan to use before UBS inclusion.

Then warm a sensor up to distinguish and label each immediately.
