Motion Controlled Scenes for Bathrooms

Question

Hi

I have been playing around with motion activated scenes which I now have working however I would like the ability to override the motion scenes by switching the light switch (connected to a Dimmer 2 module)

I currently have this working but it only works if the lights are already off, is there a way I can set a scene which says if Bathroom lights are switched on via the switch change variable to X and the same if the light switch is switched off?

Day time motion

Night time motion

Hi,

I usually do the bathrooms the easy way - if motion and night or evening..., turn the light on.... Whatver you want.

And then I put there one more variable, I usually call it "BathroomAuto".

I make another scene, that uses "scene activation" of the module, and at double click I change the variable.

So the idea is - the bathroom is in automatic, motion controlled.

But If you do double click, the automation stops and you have full manual control over the lights.

In your scene I dont really see the point of using bathroommotion variable. IT does not do anything right?

And one thing I see is too short for bathroom is the safe time for turning the light off. For bathroom 30 seconds is really short. That light must be turning off crazy, right?

  • Hi

Thanks for responding, yes the motion variable is active.  This variable is only set to true if the lights are triggered by the motion scene, this means the scene that switches the lights off will only do this based on this variable.  So if i switch the lights on before entering, the motion scene won't activate as i have put a IF statement in saying lights have to be off for this to active.  This is the closest I have managed to get this to work how I would like it to work.

I like the idea of setting a variable one pressing the switch button connected to the Dimmer2 module, i'm not sure how to do this, could you send me an example please?

Yes I have increased the 30 seconds as this was annoying.

    Thank you
