Homekit - Single Switch: How to On and then off

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to create an automation to switch off my Single switch after it has been switched on.

Reason why is because I need to simulate one pulse to change the status of a relay.

I have tried adding a scene but so far I have not been able.

Has anyone an idea?

Thanks,

dan

Hello,

Make an Automation, where trigger is Fibaro switch and in condition you have Fibaro switch turned on and you just turn it off iin automation action.

Programmer would understand it like this: If Single switch is on then turn off Single switch.

Jakub

    Thanks for replying.

I have already tried that but after you turn it on, it takes a few seconds tu turn it off? Have I made a mistake, is there a way to program an immediate switch off?

    Thanks!

@dcaccount , unfortuantelly i do not know any. It all depends on Bluetooth distance between device. Theoretically, In 1 meter from your iOS device it sould turn off immediately.

For now, HomeKit does not allow some advanced programming.

Maybe Fibaro could do someting, but it will not be immeadiately.

@I.Srodka please, could you pass to R&D team to make "Pulse mode" into Homekit switches? Sometimes you need just pulse, e.g. Garage doors, to open/close. It is basically turn on and immeadiately off (same as auto Off in Z-Wave version). You can make it via automation, but it could make only "long" pulses and it depends mainly on distance between iOS device and BLE device.

    Thanks Jakub, I totally agree.

Very often in home automation just a pulse is needed, garage doors, lights driven by multiple switches, in other words all applications where there is a relay driven by a pulse.

To have only on and off is a limit.

In my case, I need to replace the relay in the main electrical cabinet with the Single Switch but it is more complicated. It would have been much straight forward to replace one of the switches that feeds the relay.

Automation, on and then off works, but sometimes it is immediate but sometimes it takes a few seconds even though the phone is next to the switch (I do not understand why).

Then to replace a relay in the electrical cabinet leads to a range issue because often the electrical cabinet is in the basement and Bluetooth can not reach it, like unfortunately in my case.

@I.Srodkaif you need any clarification, please advise

Automations doesn't use your phone, so the phone distance is irrelevant.

To be honest I don't know why the ability to send just a short pulse is unavailable. I guess they had their reasons. However, I'm happy to pass this suggestion for future iterations or future products.

I may be making a fool of myself.

Does a mono switch send a short pulse? Will setting the Single Switch to 'monostable' type do the trick (of sending a short pulse)?

Just read all this and ‘monostable’ had already popped into mind. Yes it would work, there are often variants covering long and short pulses. I don’t really see why a two or even ten second pulse would be a problem for most things? If you operated with a remote you’d almost certainly send a one second long pulse?

This is simpler.... with the Single Switch 213

Go to Parameter 10: Select "Auto - Off"

Go to Parameter 12: select the desired duration.  I left it at 1 second.

There you have it, all contained in the same device.

and use a very simple relay.
