Wall plug getting very warm

Sfb

Question

Using a brand new wall plug (EU/Shuko) to switch a 2kw water heater on while present and off when not, the plug gets very hot while on and connected to the heater. Power used when on is reported by the plug itself to be somewhat less than 2kw and the LED ring glows red, thus a 'normal' situation. The plug is rated at max 2,5kw continous load and correspondingly 11A. 2kw, what is consumed should be well within the raring, both current- and power-wise.

Is this what to expect?

Same experience, same situation (wp used to control and monitor water heater).

I think this is normal because the plug is nearly reaching its limit and also don't forget the fact that the plug is near the heater so everything must be fine. Also, the maximum operating temperature is about 40 degrees celsius so in my opinion it is ok.
