2 Zone Heat Pump Thermostat

Axeman

Question

Hello,

I am looking to integrate a 2 zone heat pump with my fibaro HC2 do you have any recommendations for the 2 thermostats i will need?

Note that the system is a heat pump and i do not want an MCO HOME product.

Thank you all!

if all expensive for you I can recommend buying

2 (1st zone + 2nd zone) Fibaro multisensors (FGMS-001-ZW5 - ~ $60x2) + Relay.

about Relay. I can't recommend to you because idk what boiler (pump) you use.

Some boilers have a simple external control system with "dry" contact, some boilers should turn on/off by power. You should read manual and clearly understand how you can  turning on / off your boiler.

and last. if you want a low price system - you may do not use thermostat at all. a thermostat can be emulate by software - you may write LUA script of simple use native Fibaro system

without a thermostat

hi @Axeman

is not clear here.

1) you have 2 zones for heating

2) you have 1 (one)  boiler

please correct me, you want to turn on / off a boiler based on (avg?) temperature on 1 and 2 zones.

UPD: "2 zone heat pump" -  so. as I can understand boiler has two independent "relays" for turning 1st and 2nd zone. is it OK?

Simple software thermostat

1st zone: room1 (fibaro temperature sensor_t1) / room2 (for example no sensors) / room3 (fibaro temperature sensor_t3)

z1_setPoint 20*C

2nd zone: room4 (for example no sensors) / room5 (fibaro temperature sensor_t5) / room6 (for example no sensors)

z2_setPoint 23*C

boiler relay_z1, relay_z2

so,

t_z1 = t1 + t3 / 2 -- avg

t_ z2 = t5 / 1 -- avg

if  t_z1 < z1_setPoint then send command to boiler relay_z1 ON else OFF

if  t_z2 < z2_setPoint then send command to boiler relay_z2 ON else OFF

  • Hello 10der,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have thought of using the motion sensors as a thermostat in the rooms using relays to turn on and off the heat pump, but i am afraid this might harm the electric heat pump system turning it on and off constantly (as it is a quite expensive device).

My question is if you have any recommendation for a thermostat (ether 1 zone per thermostat either 2 zone per thermostat) that is proven to work with an electric heat pump system and i can as well integrate them to an HC2.

  • I want to pay extra for a thermostat if it is designed to work with an electric heat pump :)

Do you have any recommendation of a z-wave thermostat that works with an electric heat pump?

    No problem friend :)

too many thermostats what I see or get has various issues with HC2. so, I really do not know. The last thermostat what I test it's TKB Home (China)

some minor issues with HC2 long conversion with TKB Home support.
