How to update devices names in Alexa skill ??

gbfabiani@gmail.com

Question

Hi, I activated Fibaro skill on Alexa on my Hc2. First impression, very good !

Alexa found the different devices I have with Fibaro ( mainly relays, dimmers, one plug and a few rugby controllers) , also picked up the scenes , and it looks it work well .

However I have some confusion with names I originally used in Fibaro, as they are too similar among them. It is not an issue when I control Fibaro with the app of course, but it become with alexa. So I think I have to go tune some of the names. To add more confusion I have a relay named "living room", a Sonos named "living room" and a plug "living room corner". , and a Scene "Turn on Living room" . Now, for the Scene "Turn on Turn on Living room" works !! . But for the individual devices, Alexa often answers me back : you have too many devices named living room .

Once the easy job to change names in Fibaro will be done, How can I update these names in Alexa  ? and How in the future if I create a new Fibaro scene can I update Alexa list ? I wonder if I risk to have double names if I deactivate the skill and activate it again . An "Update" option will be nice

Any suggestion ?

thanks

Giovanni

are you using the fibaro skill direct from alexa or using the HA bridge?

Sorry I'm not familiar with the direct plugin as I deleted it after I found it clunky. I advise you should invest in a HA Bridge by Skaro technologies and you will have a an awesome experience with Alexa.

Id imagine in the app there will be a section to add devices using the plus sign or similar. I'd re-run that.

Hi @[email protected],

Just rename the devices in the Fibaro app, and normally, after a while, they will update automatically in the Alexa device list.

So you don't need to do anything in the Alexa app.

Should you somehow end up with double entries in the list anyway, you can always delete the inactive/old one in the Alexa app.
