"value to be reported to the controller" means what?

Wegerhoff

Question

The motion sensor offers in Parameter 40 + 42 (light) and 60 + 64 (temperature) settings for  if and how often the value of light and temperature will be reported to the controller. What does this mean?

The Web Interface shows the current values anyway, even when these reports are disabled. What is the controller doing with the values, when additional reported?

With this reports enabled, can I use change in temperature to trigger a LUA scene by the usual header vor change in values?

First of all you probably talking about Fibaro motion sensor....

Only parameters 42 and 64 refer to how often to send report to the controller.

Parameters 40 and 60 refer to how much the the has to differ from the last value to be reported to the controller. Parameter 62 refers how often to preform temperature measurements regardless sending report to controller.

In any case, it means how often the report will be sent to the controller regardless any changes at light or temperature.

What you see now this is the last value of sensors, in case it will changed (according to setup of 40,60,62) the sensor will send the report to controller.

Now you probably wondering what is the different  between two? In any case you have correct values?

Just for fun, please disconnect the battery from the sensor and you will continue to see same values for ever...., but if you set to send report every ( let's say) 10 minutes and you monitoring this in scene, you can identify when something wrong with the sensor.

Usually you can use this option if your sensor faraway from the controller and you have troubles with z-wave communication and of course you can now when the battery is dead.

In most of the cases this option is disabled to keep the battery life as long as possible.

Hope it helps...
