Scene triggered prematurely

nchi

Question

I'm testing out scene building with my HCL and tried to make a simple scene pair for "away lights", where some lights in the house and turn automatically on and then later off.

The first scene sets the dimmer and turns lights on, in addition to setting a variable VacationLights to 1. Scene is triggered by time before sunset.

The second scene should be triggered by time AND VacationLights has to be 1. However, this scene seems to run immediately after the scene to turn lights of is running. I also get warnings of "too many instances" for the second scene.

I'm trying to understand what is happening here. Why is the second scene triggered ahead of time?

Vacationlights is a variable which triggers this scene. Above the blocks you also see this selected as trigger of the scene. That means everytime variable vacationlights is set inmediatly the second scene will start, not paying attention to time it has to run.

if you want to change this, unselect trigger for vacationlights in the 2nd scene, change time and variable check so scene starts at daily at 20.49 and then checks if vactionlights is value 1 before executing the rest of the scene.

@nchi did you manage to get it working now?

Yes, thanks a lot for your help! I got it working, and your comment made me understand how variables can trigger scenes :)
