Monitoring Central Heating Pump

Hi guys

I have a central heating pump in my cupboard upstairs that has only power to it (240v / 13amp) - Live / Neutral / Earth

Its switched on and off automatically when the valves to my water circuits in the house make a call (demand) for heat. When they do this, the central heating pump kicks in to push the water around the house etc. When finished, the valves close which in turn tell the pump to shutdown.

Given its just Live/Neutral/Earth , is there a way I could incorporate a fibaro module (like a relay etc) to "monitor" if the pump is running or not? I'm not sure if electricity is constantly provided to the pump all the time (I assume it is) and when it sensors water flow, that triggers the pump to kick in.

I wasnt sure if I could put something "in-line" to the power cable to the pump (as that is the only cable running to it) and perhaps monitor its energy consumption and if above "X" then that could notify me etc?

I've uploaded a picture of my pump highlighting the power wire that connects to it.

Cheers

Andy

Hi
If your pump is in a fixed installation you can use Single / Double Switch 2, it can monitor energy consumption.
You can create scenes based on energy consumption. :)

Alternatively, you can use the Wall plug.

    Thanks @hTiger1

It is indeed a fixed installation and the power for the unit is wired into a junction box so the wall plug is a no go option (I'd rather not anyway)

I do have a spare Fibaro FGS222 Relay Switch, but I dont want it to "switch" anything on or off as the power needs to remain constant to the pump. I just want to grab the consumption/power out of it

    Can that be done?

    Thanks

    Hi
I even have an FGS222 and it does not have an active energy measurement.
It should be Single / Double Switch 2, it has active energy measurement.
It just needs to be switched on always, and only used for energy measurement, maybe there is a forum user who knows if you can lock it in the on mode, like the wall plug.
