Is the Forum activity slowing down?

Recommended Posts

I have noticed recently that I get fewer responses to my queries on the Fibaro Forum. It could be me, of course : maybe my questions are uninteresting, too complex, or badly presented? Or is the Forum less active than it used to be? When I joined about a year ago, I was pleased to get quick and very constructive responses to several posts. Last month I have posted a handful more, with very limited response. Is this a general trend, or just my personal experience?

I think you are not imagining this slowdown.

There can be many reasons for the slowdown... It is difficult for me to "gauge" other users behavior, why they choose to be more or less active.

I understand your question, but I am not sure if I can help to explain it, and I have no clue on how to improve the situation... But I can talk about myself...

I used to post more, and I made a public statement about that, partly an apology and partly an explanation.

  • @petergebruers I think your response may be indicative: Some very knowledgeable users, like you, have contributed a lot and have to slow down at some point. Most others are less experienced, and feel more comfortable asking questions and describing problems than contributing.

What I would like to encourage is for the average user to be more active by responding "I tried this, and it worked" (or it did not), without claiming to be experts. Don't be shy, folks, sharing experiences is what this forum is all about!

@petergebruers I don't know how you keep going on this.

"After 4155 posts, 5 years on this forum and a reputation of 474 I feel the need to "

    Bragging rights to you!!!!

I bowed out a few years back as it just takes so much time.

I will occasionally dip in to help and also occasionally to stir things up but forums are made up of those that are interested at the time.  While Peter does such a good job I am sure many experienced enough people will keep quiet. If Peter were to stop I am sure a few others would take over.

On the other hand there are a lot of other solutions out there so possibly it is more than this. HC2 and HCL use very old core technology. They are possibly a little expensive with that in mind and not that attractive to new entrants.

As I said, I do occasionally like to  to stir things up.
