Dimmer 2 and 2-wire switch needing power

stuart475898

Question

Hello,

Will be installing some FGD-212s soon, and the wife would also like to get some posh looking switches - for example:

That switch will work with a 2-wire install, and you can buy their equivalent of a dimmer bypass where required (<20W):

My question is, if I use a dimmer 2 + bypass, should that function similarly to the 'bypass' they sell? Appreciate that without knowning completely how their device works, it may not be simple to tell, so I guess the real question is whether the fibaro bypass is more than just passive and may not work with anything other than a dimmer 2 at the switch?

Thanks

Hello,

Bypass for Dimmer2 can work ONLY with FIBARO Dimmer 2 device...

BTW: I dont understand why do want to install non-ZWave switch (Sundely remote switch), there are exist Z-Wave glass switches, but if you have only 2-wire installation, you have to use Dimmer2 and you can use common/classic switch (glass, but without any remote functionality...).

  • Hello,

    Thanks for the reply.

The switch itself isnt a smart switch, its just a straight up switch - it needs power though as its touch sensitive.

    Thanks
