Pentair Variable Speed Pool Pump

Hi Guys,

 

I recently replaced my single speed pool pump which i was running via a

and was wondering how you would suggest to automate this new pump as the 40amp heavy duty smart switch doesn't seem to work (if power is shut, the pump looses its settings...)

Here is quote from this pump User manual:

 

"

Control with External Control and Digital Inputs

The user can run the SuperFlo® VS Variable Speed Pump with automation external controls, allowing all four programmed Speeds to be controlled remotely. The pump has a sealed connector that can be used with Pentair External Control Wiring Kit (Pentair P/N 353129Z) to run the Speeds using digital input signals. When there is an external low voltage signal present on the Speed Digital Input line, the pump will run the speed programmed for that Digital Input. The supplied +5V signal is the recommended input used for external control and Speed Digital Inputs.

"

Question is: Do you have this External Wiring Kit?

    but to what device would you wire the whole thing ?

    Hi @GGFL ,

     

    Since this remote control uses LOW voltage you can't use FGS-223 unless you add some 230V relay between FGS-223 and that remote control:

    You can on the other hand use Smart implant since its outputs (2 pcs) can be triggered by z-wave command independently of the input states:

    According to manual you can use 4 different speed settings and if you use all of them then you will need 2 pcs smart implants. Also if you have setup pump running schedule then removing signal from the input will not stop pump if there is still active schedule.

    Keep me in the loop. I use now Aeotec heavy duty switch to control my standard pump. Might go for same solution in the future.

    It took much longer than anticipated but here is what I ended up doing.

    and wired them as below to my Pentair SuperFlo® VS Variable Speed Pump.

     

    They are much bigger than a smart implant (L 10cm x W 6cm x 3.5cm) and I ended up using the smart implant to measure the water system enclosure temperature .

    I like this pump that it has resolved the control signal collision. Thus, if more than one input is closed (whether due to a fault or ignorance), the operation will be controlled according to the set priorities.
    It is a better solution than controlling the motor directly (its winding). There is already a problem with the concurrence of the control signals and there is a risk of engine damage.
    As a product, I like this pump.

  • Finally got my 3 actuators and heater to run with Fibaro :-)

    Now I'm going back to the Pump... and working on the scene.

     

    I want the scene to do the flowing:

    Scene starts at 8:30

    - Speed 1 to run for 0.5h and then stop

    - THEN speed 2 to run for 8h and then stop

    - THEN speed 3 to run 1h and then stop

     

    Should I just add the time as example 1 on the left or should I combine the time starting from the beginning of the scene as shown on example 2 on the right?
