Dimmer 2 not activating scenes (all the usual checks done)

monkia

Question

Hi,

Hardware set up:
Dimmer 2 connected to:
Momentary switch x 2 (no light bulbs)
Home Centre 2

Parameter 28 has been set to 1
Scene ID is not being passed / triggered.  I have created a basic debug LUA script and this is not triggering when I click the buttons (however the log at the top of the screen shows buttons are being pressed by reporting "ID 74 : Received parameter 13...".

Please login or register to see this code.

Trouble shooting done so far:

1)      Completely reconfigured – no difference

2)      Soft reconfigure before and after pressing the switch buttons lots

Lots more info and screen shots in the attached file...

Dimmer 2 needs a load to start. If you don't want light bulbs on the output, the recommended way is to attach a "bypass 2" as load. You can add some bulbs to test, but if you trip the circuit breaker and it has no load, it won't start again. The FGS-223 is an alternative and does not require a load.

  • Hi Peter,

    Thanks for responding so quickly.

I've several of these already installed so I'll go with the bypass 2/

So I would just need a bypass 2 on just the squiggly line output (usually goes to the light) and this will connect to the neutral?

    Thanks

    Ian

    That's correct.

Hi Monika, did you get it working? I'm struggling with as a similar issue (but want to trigger a scene from S2 physical switch)

I have the same problem with quite a few dimmer 2s setup for scene activation only.

The modules keep trying to configure each time I press the gangs. Because they never configure, apparently as there is no load, they never kick off a scene.

Very annoying thing to find out after installing them!

Another wasted task to provide a load to stop the reconfigure happening before they will work for scenes only

I raised a ticket with Fibaro support about this a couple of months ago. No reply yet.

Yes, the recommended workaround for dimmers without a load is to add a "bypass 2" as a load. Otherwise they won't start. Not only is that a recommendation (by Fibaro) but also tested by me...
