HC2 continually restarting every 5 minutes

JoseLuis

Question

My HC2 was working perfectly last 4 months and today, after deleting a device, it has stopped working. I reset it and I couldn't connect anymore. I tried to restart it in recovery mode but it was not possible. When I try recovery mode, the blue indicators start to turn on from right to left until the process reach the last one on the left and at that point, they all turn off. This process is being done cyclically by HC2 every 5 minutes. Any idea how to do a full reboot?

There are two recovery modes... which one you have tried? If nothing helps, I suggest to use the second option

Important information on LAN settings
By default, the HC2 expects to be connected to a DHCP server. In this mode,
HC2 IP address may be obtained with the use of the HC2 Finder (see HC2
Finder).
Another option is to set Static IP. Static IP may be set from the LAN
settings tab, or manually, by holding the Recovery button (back side of the HC2
casing) after the device has been connected to power supply. In this case, the
HC2 will have following settings:
IP Address: 192.168.81.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway address: 192.168.81.1
When static IP has been set, it is possible to connect HC2 directly to Ethernet
port of a PC, however PC network settings must be set to match those of HC2:
PC/MAC IP: 192.168.81.5
Subnet mask:: 255.255.255.0
Gateway address: 192.168.81.1

NOTICE After setting a static IP for the HC2 by pressing and holding the
Recovery button, please enter LAN settings to change connection type to DHCP,
when the HC2 is connected to the PC.

  • I already tried to connect directly to ip 81.1. The problem is that the hc2 never comes on. After the process of lighting the LEDs, all the LEDs turn off and remain "dead". It always does the same process. It doesn't matter if I turn it on with + pressed or not. and every

5/10 minutes it repeats the process again: lighting of LEDs until reaching the last one and everything goes out.

At recovery mode, HC2 tries to load an old version, so maybe the disk-on-key (USB connected) makes some problems.

    Try without the disk-on-key

  • Same result without internal usb. I have also tried connecting the USB key to the other Usb port and it has not worked either.

I believe you did hard power off by removing the power plug?

Try to remove internet cable also

Probably very stupid question, but when you go to recovery mode, do you keep pressing the + button for a long time?

As I mentioned there are two recovery modes. For second option you need to press the button for a long time  ~20 seconds to be on safe side.

When you pressing the button the LEDs on front panel blinking sequentially. You need to wait at least for 15 cycles.

Only then HC2 starts at 81.1

  •  nothing. Always the same process: after all the LEDs turn on once, they turn off completely. And then after a few minutes, the process is repeated with the same result.
