Controll another dimmer with a dimmer

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I've just started building my first smart home, and pretty fresh.

By fresh I've not done more than installed my HC2 and added 2 fibaro Dimmer 2's to it.

I got 1 node placed behind the light switch controlling the ceiling light through the S1 terminal. This is fine.

Now what I want to do is use the S2 Terminal to controll another dimmer which I have put in a floor lamp on the other side of the room.

I was told this would work when I bought it, but cant reall figure out how.

Any tips?

Thanks!

When you say "put in floor lamp" what it means?

You do have physical switch on floor lamp?  It can control the second dimmer....

Sorry, should have been more specific :)

I've put another dimmer behind the electrical outlet which the floorlamp is plugged into.

I can always link the two lamps, thus controlling them both from the same switch, but since I have a double switch on the wall and one of them connected to the S2 terminal on the ceiling lamp, I would love it if that could be used to turn the floor lamp on and off (on/off and dim).

I guess my basic question is how to get the S2 terminal on a dimmer to controll other things than the actual light that is connected to that dimmer (through terminal S1 ofc)

You can do it only by associating S2 to second dimmer.

In addition please configure dimmer's switches parameters according to your needs.

  • Hi and thank you for your reply.
I've given it a few days to try and figure out associations, but I'm afraid I havent.

Is there a step by step or some place that teaches you associations?

    thanks!

It is not so hard, open association in device's advanced parameters, go to group 5 and mark requested device, that's all
