Home_away variable with timers

Hans_Raven

Question

Hi,

Pretty basic question but I have searched the forum (and web) and not been able to find any solution that can help me. I have created a variable, Home_Away with two values; Home and Away. I then built two simple block scenes that says says that if a wall plug is ON it should switch to HOME (and OFF gives AWAY).

I have then a ZRC-90 remote controller that puts the wall plug in in on (button 1) and off (button 2) mode. So far so good. I have then tried multiple times and in different ways to build a simple scene that should run and turn on a window light at a certain time when I'm not home (when I'm home I want to control the light myself). I have then built an additional scene that should turn the light off automatically at a fixed time when I'm not home.

This doesn't work the way I want it at all... For instance, if the light is off and I put the wall plug in off (Away) mode the light still turns on - I don't want it to turn on until both conditions are met (time and variable). Adding to this is that the scene to turn it off doesn't seem to work either so I guess I'm missing some fundamental part here?

Scene to turn on light below:

I can also add that my intention is to continue building from this logic to have multiple lightning scenes that only runs when the house is in Away mode. Many thanks in advance for any type of guidance!

  • I tried creating a similar, but different, scene to see if that worked and it did. I have a motion sensor in my laundry room and I only want it to turn on the lights during day time so I created a variable for DAY or NIGHT. I then created two scenes; one stating that DAY time begins at 0730 AM and NIGHT begins at 1130 PM. Lights are then turned on when the condition night_day variable = DAY and movement is breached. Works like a charm.

Now I'll continue testing to see why the above scenes for lights with Home_Away doesn't work...

  • I think I solved it, the Home_Away scene should not be automatic but manual. Seems like it worked now at least for my simple test scene for one light. Will test more tomorrow :-)

  • It didn't work like I thought it did... still need help, would be much appreciated.

I have tried several different settings, even changed the wall plug to one from Fibaro and had the Home and Away scenes being triggered by the power consumption instead (Watt). Tried many different settings on the scenes; automatic/manual, number of instances running etc. I only get it to work partially.

Do I need two wall plugs for this? One that is ON when house is in Home status and one that is ON when house is in Away status? Feels like if I can't get this basic thing to work with block scenes how hard will everything else be (currently not in the mood for learning how to code).
