Power monitoring with Double Relay Switch

DavidR

Question

Hi there

I have a HC2 with dozens of Fibaro Dimmers and I enjoy seeing the energy usage in the Home Center 2.

However I also have many Double Relay Switches - for lights and exhaust fans - but these units do not report energy usage in my Home Center 2. Is there anything I need to do to make this happen?

Thank you

David

Hi David, i have has a similar issue but think i may have fixed it. I have a security light connected to a double switch and use the current draw as a trigger. I've used this before on a Double Switch and it worked perfectly. Just installed a Double Switch 2 and the current/power is not being updated. Tried changing power update figures (parameters 50 to 59)  with no luck.

I noticed if i force HC2 to read the config, the power reading are updated. I then noticed the "Polling time interval" was set to  "Exclude". I've changed this to "poll" every 30 seconds, and now i'm getting up to date current readings (updated every 30 seconds).

Hope this helps

Andrew

Hi @DavidR.

if you have the FGS-212 or the 222 this device is not capable for energy consumption metering.

only the dimmer or the FGS-212 / 223 single/double switch is capable for energy consumption, according the manual.

FIBARO Switch 2 allows to control connected devices either via the Z-Wave+ network or via a switch connected directly to it and is equipped with active power and energy consumption metering functionality.

  • @Flash had the right answer. It turns out I had bought the wrong units. The names of these switches and relays are so similar - I did not realize there was a difference between a "switch" and a "relay switch". Pity I ordered and installed 30 devices before figuring this out. You live and learn ...

That's a pain for you, I miss read the original message, you defiantly need the Double Switch 2, the original ones will not.

Original (notice no blue field as they can not monitor):
