2 wires window sensor connection to RGBW controler

Marcin

Question

Hi,

I would like to connect 4xbinary 2 wires window sensors to RGBW.

At FGRGBWM-441 manaul it is written I can control up to 4 analog sensors 0-10V. Fig 8 from manual shows as below:

All above analog sensors are 3 wires.

Does anybody could advise me if it is possible and how to connect simple magnetic sensors (2 wires) looked like:

Connect one leg of the sensor to GND and the other leg to "IN". An internal resistor on the FGRGBWM-441 will pull up the IN pin (I once measured it, input looks like a 18k resistor to 10.5 Volt). When the contact is closed, you'll see a low voltage, when it is open a high voltage, on your Home Center.

  • Many thanks,

That is how I considered to do. Will try tomorrow and post here my results :-)

One question more. Do you think I can use 14V power supply to power RGBW switch? At manual stays only 12 or 24V but I have 14V convenient power supply with DIN rail mount.

Yes, any DC supply between 12 and 24 V will work.

  • Unfortunately I am still facing problems.

I have wired and add RGBW without any problem, however in order to set it up i need to change parameter 14. On my desktop there are no parameter 14!!!!

After 13 there is parameter 15. At English manual there is a note:

"14. Inputs / Outputs configuration - relevant for main controllers other than Home Center 2 only"

In Polish manual there is an note (translation):

"14. Setings for IN/OUT modules - (hidden parameter - interface)"

Do you know what where to look for "hidden parameter"?

    Anybody?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, on HC2 on the device tab you select the "mode" ie RGB, RGBW or input/output. Sorry, don't have screenshot of this. Choosing the mode will calculate and set parameter 14 for you. If you change the mode, all slaves will suddenly look different to match the mode.

  • Aha

so it means I cannot adjust parameter 14 by my self only by changing mode

    I am using mode input/output

I am trying to integrate my analog magentic window sensors on most convenient way. Now i can only use interface of dimmer.

When my window is closed it looks like this:

When my window is open it looks like that:

Do you have idea if I can have image of typical switch (with no dimmer) or even better to use image of window sensor?

Sorry for basic question but I am still new even I am engineer by profession and learning quickly :-)

I don't think so, if you want something that resembles a d/w sensor the old UBS or new Smart Inplant can do that, but they only have 2 channels.

I think you can do that if you turn off parameter template but iirc this won't help much on HC2. That parameter really exists for other gateways, they do not have the concept of I/O mode. Changing the mode on HC2 changes the GUI. But the device still remains what it is, a RGBW but with dimmers for backwards compatibility.
